I was born in the mountains of Western Maine during “mud season” and grew up on a dairy farm there. I walked 25 miles to school in the snow, up hill in both directions. Seriously I did grow up on the family dairy farm in Stow, Maine and attended the one room school there until I was in the third grade. I graduated from Waltham High School in Waltham Massachusetts where I ran Cross Country &Track and played trumpet in both the Marching & the Concert bands. I went on to graduate from Bowdoin College and enlisted in the Navy. I served on the aircraft carrier, USS Kitty Hawk and later was attached to Coastal River Squadron 1 where I was the skipper of PTF 21. After the Navy I returned to Maine to begin what has been a 34 year career in real estate.
I began my community service by being a member of the founding committee of Habitat for Humanity in 1985. Later I joined Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce and served as President of Falmouth/Cumberland Chamber. I belonged first to Portland Rotary and transferred to Freeport Rotary when my wife and I purchased an inn in Freeport. I chose to be a member of Freeport Merchants Association and served on the board.
Being a clown is my most favorite pastime. I was a member of Kora Klowns at Kora Shrine for 18 years. I am now the boss clown for Corner Stone Clowns here in Portland. I graduated as a Master Clown from Clown College
More serious services include: Facilitator/Greeter for the Center of Grieving Children in Portland and I volunteer to help with the refurbishing of the building for Cathedral Church of St. Luke. I serve on the boards of condominium associations where we own property.
My wife, Nikki and I live in Portland with our dog Norton. Together we like to travel and play golf as well as enjoy the wonderful restaurants and entertainment opportunities in Southern Maine.
I began my real estate career in 1974 when I returned to Maine after serving in the US Navy. It started with joining the family business of owning and managing apartment houses in Portland. This was a 28 year project for me. I got my Brokers license shortly after returning to Maine. I was affiliated with Mark Stimson Associates during the 80’s.
During the 90’s I owned and operated Commercial Property Maintenance Associates. CPMA specialized in prepping houses for sale, handing maintenance issues of property being marketed and managing properties for investors. My wife and I owned and operated the Brewster House Bed and Breakfast in Freeport during 02,03,04,05,06.
After the sale of the B&B I decided to broker real estate as a retirement project. It has grown into a full time project and I love it. I really enjoy working with people who are down sizing into smaller properties and condominiums.
